Sailing With "Buster"
Join us for day cruises or week-long adventures aboard our 47 foot sailboat.
Your hosts, Fred and Ineke Coppoolse are originally from Holland and married in 1992 in St. Vincent, have been cruising in the Caribbean and East coast of America since 1990.
Fred, 53, has built and sailed seven boats from 40'-47', and is an expert in West Epoxy system construction. A keen sailor for over thirty years, the new Wauquiez 47' is Fred's first "store-bought" yacht --- but he is adjusting nicely to her! A tireless reader, with wide musical tastes, Fred trained as a graphic artist/designer. He started his sailing career in the North Sea, and has happily retired from a successful marine distribution business -- to the warmer climes of the Southern Caribbean.
Ineke, 43, left her corporate career in an engineering firm as public relations and executive liason to run away to sea! She is interested in all watersports, embroidery and handcrafts, flowers, enjoys International cuisine and reading cookbooks! Partial to Asian cooking -- Indonesian and Japanese at the moment, Ineke has collected recipes from the Mediterranean to the Pacific, and is adaptable in the Galley. She loves to shop in the local markets, uses fresh ingredients offering some great Caribbean specialities.
Both are keen travelers and ready adventurers, who spent this "in between boats" winter in Australia and Indonesia. They are quite fond of the friends they have made over several years cruising in the Southern Chesapeake. A cordial and friendly couple, they are great fans of American hospitality, speak fluent English (and a few other languages) and like to return the welcome they have experienced in their travels.
Fred and Ineke have called the Grenadines home for over ten years, where they first ran Buster #1 as the "house" yacht at the luxury Young Island Resort for several seasons. Ineke enjoyed working with the chef there, who taught her many special local dishes! They found they enjoyed welcoming the discerning hotels guests aboard for short sails, and it has made them adept and easy company for cruising on charter.
For those interested in sailing for beginners to would-be world cruisers, or navigation -- even celestial -- Fred is a willing teacher! He is a tireless snorkel instructor, tows an optimistic fishing line, has learned to BBQ like a Texan, but is trading in the windsurfer for a new sea kayak!
